A wintry journey through loneliness and societal disorientation

SEROTONIN is a play based on the novel by Michel Houellebecq and is being shown at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. At its center is a disillusioned man who withdraws from the familiar structures of his previous life.

The protagonist gives up relationships, career, and home. This marks the beginning of a personal winter journey that takes him out of his previous daily routine. The journey represents not only a change of location but also the search for orientation in an increasingly unfamiliar world. Houellebecq’s material combines personal crisis and societal observation into a story about loneliness, withdrawal, and the question of how a person can continue to live after a fundamental break.
