Airship Harbor Potsdam | Parking & Events
The Airship Harbor Potsdam is much more than a single stadium: The area between Zeppelinstraße and Havel is a developed sports park where training, school, boarding school, cafeteria, and event operations are closely interconnected. Airship Harbor Potsdam GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProPotsdam, has been responsible for the management and development of the site since 2008. Today, the location shapes both school and competitive sports as well as recreational sports, offering short distances between the arena, halls, outdoor fields, and water facilities. Those searching for the Airship Harbor Potsdam address, route, maps, or site plan usually want to understand this exact mix: How do I get there, where do I park, what is available on-site, and what events are currently taking place? This is exactly what the sports park was created for. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://www.sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten-3))
Events and Tickets at the MBS Arena
The centerpiece of the sports park has been the MBS Arena since 2012. Official figures state it can accommodate up to 2,900 spectators and describe the hall as a stage for sports events, concerts, shows, and fairs. This is an important point for organizers and visitors, as the arena is not only a venue but also a flexibly usable space with different configurations. The official overview page lists separate room plans for sports, boxing, banquets, conferences, concerts, and festival tents, demonstrating the broad spectrum of usage. Additionally, integrated specialty areas such as judo and fencing halls, as well as other halls and training areas, make the location particularly attractive for competitions and training camps. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
Those looking for events at the Airship Harbor Potsdam today will most reliably land on the event and ticket page of the MBS Arena. There, dates are continuously published. At the time of research, home games of VfL Potsdam in the 2nd Handball Bundesliga were visible, including tickets and specific game dates. This is particularly valuable for local visibility, as search queries with today, tickets, schedule, or program almost always expect a quick response. The arena is also technically equipped for modern events: The official description mentions TV-compatible lighting, streaming technology, Wi-Fi throughout the hall, and an LED wall. This combination of sports infrastructure and event technology makes the location interesting for audiences, media, and organizers alike. ([mbs-arena.de](https://www.mbs-arena.de/?utm_source=openai))
For those searching for a program in 2025 or upcoming events, it is also important that the sports park not only hosts individual major events but is regularly connected with regional competitive sports. The MBS Arena is the visible center, while additional training and competition areas support the operations around it. This creates a location where sports and event operations do not disturb each other but rather strengthen one another. So, if you are looking for a place where atmosphere, indoor sports, and professional organization come together, you will find exactly this combination at the Airship Harbor Potsdam. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
Directions, Route, and Address to the Airship Harbor Sports Park
The operator's address is Olympischer Weg 2, 14471 Potsdam. This is important for visitors because the sports park is located in a clearly defined area between Zeppelinstraße and Havel and should not be confused with an open city center location. The operator's website communicates the location as the center of sports in the state capital Potsdam and emphasizes the short distances within the site. Therefore, those arriving by car, bike, or public transport should check the route in advance and not just rely on a simple navigation search. It is particularly helpful that the journey to the MBS Arena is explained directly on the official page, and the relationship between the arena, parking garage, and sports park area is clearly stated. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://www.sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten-3))
Public transport plays a central role in the route. The journey page of the MBS Arena lists bus lines 580, 631, and N14, as well as tram lines 91 and 98, directly in front of the sports park. This is not only interesting for environmentally conscious visitors but also for anyone who does not want to search for a parking space during events. Additionally, the P+R parking lot at Pirschheide station is recommended as a free alternative. Therefore, those searching for the Airship Harbor Potsdam route or maps will find a practical combination of address, public transport information, and parking alternatives on the official page. The arena itself is located on the grounds of the Airship Harbor sports park; the official description explicitly states that the area is not publicly accessible by vehicle. This point is crucial for a smooth arrival, as it avoids misunderstandings during navigation and access. ([mbs-arena.de](https://www.mbs-arena.de/index.php/anreise?utm_source=openai))
The pathways on-site are also well thought out. A separate address for the MBS Arena is given as Olympischer Weg 6, and the parking garage is located between Zeppelinstraße 113 and 114. This makes it clear for ticket holders where they need to go and how to cover the last leg to the event. The sports park overall follows a model of short distances: training, school, cafeteria, halls, and event areas are located close to each other. In a sports and event area, this structure is a real advantage as it combines orientation, safety, and time savings. ([mbs-arena.de](https://www.mbs-arena.de/index.php/anreise?utm_source=openai))
Parking at the Airship Harbor: Rules, Parking Garage, and Access
When it comes to parking, the Airship Harbor Potsdam is clearly regulated. The parking space concept of the operators stipulates that only vehicles with appropriate access authorization may enter the site or possess a rented parking space. Access is only via the central entrance on Zeppelinstraße. Parking is only allowed in designated areas; parking on green spaces is prohibited, driving motorized two-wheelers is not permitted, and parking on the central avenue is explicitly forbidden to keep emergency routes clear. Knowing the rules saves trouble and avoids unnecessary detours. For search queries like Airship Harbor Potsdam parking or parking MBS Arena, these details are crucial as they show that this is not a freely accessible parking lot on any street, but a clearly organized parking system. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/8-home/12-der-sportpark-8))
Since January 1, 2025, the parking garage in the Airship Harbor sports park is operated by fair parken GmbH in free-flow parking, meaning it is monitored by cameras and has no barriers. This is relevant for visitors because the parking process feels different than in traditional parking garages. Those looking for a permanent parking space should contact fair parken GmbH, according to the operator. For event guests of the MBS Arena, there is also a pragmatic recommendation: the P+R parking lot at Pirschheide station or the parking garage directly in the sports park. The arrival page mentions a rate of 1.00 Euro for the first hour and 1.50 Euro for each additional hour. It is particularly important to note that free parking in the vicinity of the arena is limited and increasingly monitored. For this reason, it is sensible to determine in advance whether to arrive with a ticket, by public transport, or via the parking garage. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/8-home/12-der-sportpark-8))
For squad athletes, employees, and users with authorization, additional internal rules apply. The parking permit must be visibly placed on the windshield, and parking is only allowed in the assigned area. The operator also describes controls and measures in case of violations. The most important lesson for visitors is simple: Parking at Airship Harbor Potsdam only works reliably if one knows in advance whether they are allowed on the premises or better park outside. This makes the official parking regulations very valuable for orientation. Those who adhere to the arrival instructions will experience significantly less stress on-site and can focus on the event or training. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/8-home/12-der-sportpark-8))
Swimming Pool, Stadium, and Athletics Hall Overview
The Airship Harbor is particularly well-known because several specialized facilities come together in a small area. The swimming pool offers, according to the official description, a long or short course with a 50 m x 25 m pool, underwater windows for video recordings, a swimming and counter-current system, as well as training conditions under laboratory conditions. The offer is complemented by starting blocks, electronic timing, a video analysis room, sauna, and warm water relaxation pool. For competitive athletes, this is a highly functional training environment focused on technology, regeneration, and control. At the same time, the LED lighting renewed in 2023 shows that the facility is also kept modern in terms of energy and infrastructure. Therefore, searches for Airship Harbor Potsdam swimming pool do not refer to just any public pool, but a specialized training facility clearly oriented towards competitive sports. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
The athletics stadium also has a special history. It was built in 1927 and was designed for up to 11,000 spectators at that time. In later years, national athletics competitions took place here. Today, the official sports facilities page describes a grandstand with covered seating, sanitary facilities, an electronic scoreboard, as well as a sound and floodlight system. Additionally, there are eight tartan tracks and facilities for shot put, discus, javelin, hammer, high jump, long jump, and pole vault. The auxiliary stadium at the back of the athletics hall complements the training opportunities with shot put rings, long jump facilities, javelin throwing lanes, laser shooting range, bobsled push track, and floodlights. For users searching for stadium, athletics, or athletics hall, this density of facilities is a clear signal: The location is not only versatile in sports but also professionally structured. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
The athletics hall itself was reconstructed in 2004 and is described as having around 8,750 square meters of main usable space. It offers a 200-meter running track with four lanes, six sprint straights with light barriers and timing systems, as well as a throwing hall for javelin, discus, and shot put. Additionally, there are a two-court ball game hall and several strength training rooms. This is crucial for daily operations because such a facility allows for the meaningful combination of running, sprinting, throwing, and strength training. Therefore, those searching for Airship Harbor Potsdam athletics hall rightly expect more than just a hall with a few lanes: A complex training environment has been created here that enables modern diagnostics and sport-specific work. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
The overall picture also includes a rowing and canoeing center as well as outdoor fields. The rowing center is described with boat halls, strength rooms, ergometer room, and a fully diagnostic rowing pool. The canoe center offers strength and gymnastics rooms, a canoe counter-current system, two 200-meter competition tracks with starting facilities and electronic timing, as well as illuminated 500-meter training lanes. The outdoor fields include artificial turf and natural grass fields with floodlights; the official page even mentions that Turbine Potsdam uses these conditions for daily training. This clarifies why searches for Airship Harbor Potsdam photos, stadium, and swimming pool are so frequently conducted together: The location is not a single object but a sports ensemble with many facets. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten))
History of the Airship Harbor: From Airship Harbor to Sports Park
The history of the Airship Harbor begins with aviation. In 1911, Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin acquired the land at Pirschheide and had a large airship harbor built there. According to the city, the world's largest airship hall was even built at that time, which could accommodate two zeppelins, each over 150 meters long. Already in 1913, the entrance to the harbor and shipyard was designed by a semicircle of 22 linden trees. This early phase explains why the name Airship Harbor has remained to this day and why the place is historically interesting beyond sports. Those searching for Airship Harbor Potsdam history will therefore encounter a piece of technology, urban, and architectural history. ([potsdam.de](https://www.potsdam.de/de/luftschiffhafen-potsdam))
With the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, airship usage ended abruptly. The large hall was demolished, but historical traces such as the entrance gate and former workshop buildings with shed roofs were preserved. In 1924, the city acquired the site and developed it into a land and water sports facility. Already in May 1925, the General Water Sports Exhibition took place there, and in 1927 the facility was officially opened. During this time, a stadium for 11,000 spectators, a regatta course, an outdoor swimming pool, football and hockey fields, a festival hall, a small-caliber shooting range, boathouses, a yacht harbor, as well as playgrounds and restaurants were created. The transition from air navigation to sports is therefore not a loose narrative but a clearly documented upheaval that continues to shape the location today. ([potsdam.de](https://www.potsdam.de/de/luftschiffhafen-potsdam))
Even during the GDR era, the site remained significant for sports. The city describes that the usage continued with a focus on competitive sports. Since 1990, the area has been publicly accessible, and in 1996 the waterfront path was expanded. Today, Airship Harbor Potsdam GmbH has been responsible for the development, management, and facility management of the entire area since its founding in May 2008. The company describes itself as a service provider for all users of the sports park. Thus, the Airship Harbor is not only historically interesting but also clearly structured organizationally: the past, public access, and modern sports operations are closely interconnected here. ([potsdam.de](https://www.potsdam.de/de/content/luftschiffhafen-1))
Site Plan, Photos, Jobs, and Practical Orientation
Those searching for Airship Harbor Potsdam photos will find image material about the grounds, the stadium, and the MBS Arena on the official pages. This is an important first impression for many visitors because the sports park cannot be fully grasped from the outside. The images help to visualize the paths, halls, and open spaces in advance. At the same time, the area is well describable due to its location between Zeppelinstraße and Havel, allowing for a usable orientation even without a printed site plan. For most users, this combination of image, address, and clear structure is crucial: They want to know where they are going, what the area looks like, and where they can orient themselves upon arrival. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://www.sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/index.php/de-DE/sportstaetten-3))
The website is also current regarding jobs. The homepage displays job postings such as educators (m/f/d); on another page variant, a place and hall attendant (m/f/d) was previously mentioned. This fits the self-image of Airship Harbor Potsdam GmbH as the operator and service provider of a complex sports area. Especially since school, training, accommodation, catering, and event technology come together, tasks in operation, maintenance, and support are continuously arising. Therefore, those searching for Airship Harbor Potsdam jobs will not find a general corporate career here but concrete positions related to the operation of a sports park. ([sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de](https://www.sportpark-luftschiffhafen.de/?utm_source=openai))
Practically speaking, the Airship Harbor is ideal for anyone looking for sports, events, and infrastructure in one place. The arena, swimming pool, athletics hall, stadium, outdoor fields, and water facilities are all part of a clearly managed ensemble. For visitors, this means: first plan the journey, then head to the desired event or training area, and observe the rules on-site. For search queries like maps, site plan, address, parking, or route, the location is particularly suitable because the most important answers are already available on the official pages. Once familiar with the area, one quickly realizes that the Airship Harbor Potsdam is not just a name but a whole sports cosmos.
I was here for a swimming lesson with Unisport Potsdam. It is definitely a facility designed for athletes rather than casual swimming, the pool is Olympic-level with modern equipment, and the coaches are professional. You need to bring your own padlock for the lockers, and a swimming cap is mandatory. Also, the doors were locked when I arrived, so I had to wait outside for the coach to let me in. It's a great spot for serious training.
