The atmosphere is relaxed, yet at the same time inspiring; every corner offers something that makes you pause and really take a look. The museum isn’t huge, so you can explore it in a leisurely afternoon. If you love film or simply want to see how those little cinematic magic tricks are made, the Film Museum is definitely a place worth visiting.

A beautifully well done (and small) museum on German film history, with special exhibits on the first floor that change depending on what is on at the moment (great design, attention to detail and informative nature). The ground floor had a very insightful exhibit on German film stars, set designers, directors, films and sound (with a small interactive sound room). There was a small movie theater with a movie projecting onto the wall and nice wall interactive videos with headphone attachments. I learned a lot about Potsdam as a film hub, as well as Babelsberg being the biggest studios in Europe and very influential in local, European and international productions.

Excellent film museum, drawing heavily on the close proximity and influence of Babelsberg. Almost all of the information is in both German and English, lots of fun interactive exhibits for kids, and very interesting temporary exhibits. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful 😁 This museum is a real treat and a must-see for all film buffs!

Wonderful exhibit on the ground floor where you can spend hours, but the upstairs specialty exhibits (like the Andreas Dresen one I visited) tend to lack English translations, so they miss out on a lot of foreign eyes. A multi language audio headphone tour would be a game changer here!
