Café Pedales Potsdam | Map & Opening Hours

Café Pedales is located in Villa Schöningen at Berliner Straße 86 directly at the Glienicke Bridge in Potsdam. The café is operated by Pedales and combines a historic location with a tranquil garden atmosphere, seasonal opening hours, and a selection of coffee, homemade organic cakes, soups, and salads. Those looking for a map, directions, or pictures will find a place where excursions, art, and enjoyment come together. The location is interesting not only for a quick stop but also for a conscious visit with time for the park, the exhibition, and the view of the historic surroundings. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Why are so many searching for reviews, photos, and maps?

The search queries around Café Pedales show a very clear pattern: Many people want to know first how the place looks, where it is exactly located, and whether the trip is worth it. This fits with a café that operates not only through food and drinks but primarily through atmosphere. This atmosphere is created here by the combination of villa, park, exhibition house, and café operation. The place is not an interchangeable city café but part of a historic ensemble that opens at the Glienicke Bridge, thus immediately creating a special setting. Those searching for photos are therefore often looking not only for food but also for the garden, greenery, and tranquil surroundings. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Additionally, Villa Schöningen is understood as a vibrant cultural site. The house hosts changing exhibitions, tours, readings, concerts, and drawing courses, making it more than just a pure excursion destination for coffee and cake. This connection between culture and gastronomy also shapes the search interest: Many visitors want to know in advance whether a detour is worth it just for a break or if the visit can be combined with art and garden. This is exactly where Café Pedales excels. It is part of a place where historic architecture, park landscape, and contemporary culture intertwine. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/ueber-uns/?utm_source=openai))

Practical information is also a central part of user intent. The café operates seasonally, is open significantly longer in summer than in winter, and is located in such a way that it can be easily integrated into a trip to Potsdam or Berlin. The official address, the connection to Glienicke Bridge, and the opening hours are therefore among the most important details for orientation. Additionally, it is important that the café itself is wheelchair accessible and leashed dogs are allowed, while the exhibition house is not wheelchair accessible due to monument protection reasons. These differences make good advance information particularly valuable. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

The culinary profile also explains the curiosity. Pedales focuses on fresh, daily prepared dishes, natural ingredients, sustainable and regional products, as well as coffee from the Potsdam roastery die espressonisten. So those searching for reviews usually want to find out whether the place feels more like a classic café, an excursion destination, or a garden restaurant. The official description clearly shows: Café Pedales is consciously positioned as calm, green, and high-quality. This makes it interesting for guests who want not just a quick drink but to experience a special environment. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

Map, Address, and Directions to Villa Schöningen

The address of Café Pedales is closely linked to Villa Schöningen: Berliner Straße 86, 14467 Potsdam. Thus, the café is located at one of the most prominent points in Potsdam, directly at the Glienicke Bridge, exactly where Berlin and Potsdam meet spatially and historically. The villa is even described in official information as the entrance building to Potsdam when coming from Berlin. For visitors, this is a practical point of orientation, as the location is clear and easy to place. Those searching on the map will not find the place in a hidden side street but on a well-known axis between the city, bridge, and park. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Public transport also provides a clear route. From Berlin Central Station, according to the official visitor page, you take RE 1 or S 7 to Wannsee and then transfer to bus 316 to Glienicker Brücke; from Potsdam Central Station, you can take tram 93 to Glienicker Brücke. This connection is particularly convenient for guests arriving without a car or planning the visit as a relaxing excursion. Due to the clear connection, Café Pedales is also suitable as a stop before or after a walk, a museum visit, or a day by the water and in the park. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

By car, you can reach the villa from Berlin via the A115 to the Wannsee exit and then follow Potsdamer Chaussee to Glienicker Brücke. From Brandenburg, the route is via the A115 to the Dreieck Potsdam/Babelsberg exit and then along Berliner Straße to the bridge. These details are important for planning because they clearly place the location in the traffic area between Berlin and Potsdam. This is especially helpful for guests who are making a combined city and nature excursion or want to connect their destination with an event, an exhibition visit, or a café stay. The route is not complicated, but the location at the bridge requires a brief, precise orientation. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

Practical orientation also includes the question of the overall environment. Villa Schöningen is located in an area historically linked to the former border between West Berlin and the GDR and is now perceived as a place of art, culture, and landscape. For this reason, the address search is not just navigation to gastronomy but also navigation to a cultural site with a special history. Those visiting the place for the first time should therefore not only save the address but also keep in mind the proximity to Glienicker Bridge and the historic park as points of orientation. This way, the journey becomes part of the experience. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/history/?utm_source=openai))

For guests who prefer to come on foot or by bike, the location is equally attractive. The connection between bridge, park, and exhibition site makes it easy to incorporate Café Pedales into a walk along the Havel and villa landscape. Especially because the place is so clearly situated, the map often becomes the most important decision-making aid even before the visit. This is where the location fulfills its strengths: It is prominent, historically charged, and yet easy to reach. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Opening Hours, Coffee, and Food at Café Pedales

The opening hours of Café Pedales follow a seasonal rhythm that fits well with a place with a garden and park. On the official visitor page of Villa Schöningen, it states for the summer period Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm and for the winter period Friday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. On the Pedales page, the time periods are specified a bit more concretely: from April 11 to October 31 daily or from Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays, and from November to March Fridays to Sundays. For planning, it is important to check the current times, especially in the colder season or before public holidays. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

The culinary offering is deliberately not overloaded but clearly aimed at day guests and connoisseurs. Pedales describes the café as a place for soups, salads, and a wide selection of homemade organic cakes. The dishes are prepared fresh daily and consist, according to the official representation, of natural ingredients. In addition, there is coffee from the Potsdam roastery die espressonisten. The combination of fresh dishes, regional focus, and coffee quality makes clear which direction the café is heading: It is not about fast food but about a calm, high-quality stop with light cuisine and classic café character. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

Sustainability also plays a central role. The pages emphasize organic quality, local products, and careful preparation. Especially in the context of Villa Schöningen with its park and historic surroundings, this attitude seems coherent: The café presents itself as a natural, unobtrusive part of a cultural-historical site. Additionally, the view into the park is explicitly described as part of the experience. Those sitting here do not just eat but perceive the place as a whole. This makes Café Pedales particularly interesting for visitors who value an atmospheric overall picture. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

For everyday visits, it is also relevant that the café is operated by Pedales and that direct contact is recommended for questions or reservations. The official page lists Benjamin Funke as the contact person and provides its own contact option. So if someone is planning a quiet table, a small celebration, or a specific visiting period, they can clarify that directly with the operator. This is a plus compared to many anonymous excursion cafés, as there is a clear responsibility and a recognizable operator with local ties. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

In everyday life, this creates a very clear profile: Café Pedales is a café for people who want to consciously stop by. The offerings are seasonal, the dishes fresh, the coffee carefully selected, and the surroundings exceptional. This fits guests who are not just looking for any coffee stop but a place with character, tranquility, and a historic framework. Those keeping an eye on opening hours, map, and menu concept quickly understand why the café is so often sought after in Potsdam. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Garden, Concerts, and Celebrations in the Park

A significant part of the appeal of Café Pedales lies in the outdoor area around Villa Schöningen. Pedales invites guests to use the park, linger on the lawns, and let the atmosphere in the greenery take effect. Free picnic blankets and loungers are explicitly included in the offering. Thus, the café is not only a place to sit and order but also a place to arrive, relax, and linger. This freedom makes the visit particularly pleasant because one does not just see the park but actively uses it. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Musical accents are also added: According to Pedales, concerts take place there at least once a month. This gives the place an additional cultural level that goes far beyond pure gastronomy. A café with a park and occasional live music quickly becomes a meeting point for people who want to combine tranquility and cultural impulses. This also explains why the atmosphere is often described as green, quiet, and yet lively. The park creates distance from everyday life, while the concerts bring movement into it. This tension is an essential part of the character of the place. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

The place is also prepared for private occasions. Pedales describes celebrations for various occasions and points out that in winter a maximum of 25 people can be accommodated indoors and up to 60 people outdoors in summer. The official information from Villa Schöningen also states that the event location can be rented for cultural events and corporate events, but not for weddings. This combination is practical because it opens the place for smaller, stylish gatherings without making it a classic mass event location. The setting remains deliberately intimate and culturally shaped. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Particularly attractive is the fact that the place is simultaneously a café, park, and cultural site. You can not only plan a birthday or a small meeting here but also combine the occasion with a walk, an exhibition visit, or a concert. Villa Schöningen has stood for this connection between gastronomy and culture since its reopening as an exhibition house. The café takes on the role of the relaxed, accessible area where one stays before or after the cultural program. This creates a very coherent overall picture that is not commonplace in Potsdam. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/ueber-uns/?utm_source=openai))

For guests who simply want a break in the greenery, the offering is also convincing. The view of the historic park, the freely usable lawns, and the seasonal events ensure that the stay does not feel static. Instead of just a stop, a place with quality of stay is created. This is exactly why Café Pedales is more than just a café: It is a calm, cultivated outdoor space with enjoyment, music, and landscape openness. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Villa Schöningen: History, Art, and Monument Protection

The history of Villa Schöningen begins in 1843. According to official information, the Potsdam-born architect Ludwig Persius designed the villa on behalf of Kurd Wolfgang von Schöning, a major general of Prince Carl of Prussia. The name Schöningen traces back to the family origin of the Schöning family. Thus, the villa has been a place with nobility, architecture, and urban history from the very beginning. For Café Pedales, this means: The café is not simply located in a beautiful house but in a historically significant building with a clearly documented origin. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/history/?utm_source=openai))

The further history is equally complex. According to the official history, the Schlieffen family lived there from 1903, and later the villa became the property of the GDR in 1983. On November 10, 1989, the Glienicke Bridge was opened to all people and general motor traffic, thus becoming a symbol of German unity. In 1993, the children's home in the villa was dissolved, in 1994 the estate returned to the Wallich heirs, and in 1995 Dieter Graalfs bought the villa before Dr. Mathias Döpfner and Leonhard Fischer acquired the building in 2007 and renovated it in accordance with monument protection. This sequence shows how strongly the place is connected to the upheavals of German history. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/history/?utm_source=openai))

Since 2009, Villa Schöningen has been open as an exhibition house. The reopening took place in the presence of prominent guests, and since then the house has served changing exhibitions of contemporary art. The villa today sees itself as a vibrant place for art, social exchange, and freedom. The official descriptions also emphasize that the villa and the historic park are protected as monuments and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Prussian Palaces and Gardens. This makes it clear that a visit to the café is always embedded in a larger cultural context. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/history/?utm_source=openai))

Cultural use includes tours of the history of the villa, lasting about 30 to 45 minutes, as well as curatorial tours. The house hosts changing exhibitions, readings, concerts, and drawing courses, demonstrating that it is not only museum-like but also actively and contemporarily conceived. Those visiting Café Pedales sit in a place where architecture, art, and history continue to live on. This makes the address interesting for culture enthusiasts, day visitors, and excursionists alike. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

It is also important to distinguish between the café and the exhibition house regarding accessibility. The café is, according to official information, wheelchair accessible, while the exhibition house is not wheelchair accessible for monument protection reasons. This clarity is very helpful for planning, as visitors know what to expect on-site. At the same time, it shows that Villa Schöningen takes the protection of its historical stock seriously and transparently communicates practical visitor information. Such details make a visit reliable and pleasant. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

Pedales, Bicycles, and Excursions in Potsdam

The name Pedales is no coincidence but refers to a larger offering in Potsdam. The official page of Pedales shows that the company organizes bike and paddle tours, kayak and stand-up paddleboarding offers, as well as other excursions. The café in Villa Schöningen is thus part of a network that makes movement, nature, and the city experienceable. Particularly those searching for the keyword pedales cafe mtb or for a café for a bike tour will not end up at an isolated restaurant but at a brand that is clearly focused on active day experiences. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/startpage/?utm_source=openai))

For cyclists and excursionists, the location is ideal because Villa Schöningen is located directly at Glienicke Bridge and thus on a convenient route between Berlin, Wannsee, and Potsdam. So those traveling by bike can easily combine the visit with a tour through the Havel and park landscape. The park itself also invites for a break, as picnic blankets and loungers are available, and one can enjoy the view into the greenery. This makes Café Pedales a place that works well for active guests as well as for those simply seeking a quiet break. ([potsdam-per-pedales.de](https://potsdam-per-pedales.de/cafe/?utm_source=openai))

Because Pedales is overall strongly associated with mobility, excursions, and leisure, the café also fits very well into a day program without fixed time pressure. For example, those coming from Berlin can combine the bridge, the villa, the park, and the café in a single visit. The place is suitable for short stops as well as for longer stays with exhibitions, coffee, and walks. Especially the combination of good accessibility, historic surroundings, and green outdoor space makes the location so flexible. This is one of the reasons why Café Pedales is so present in many search queries in Potsdam. ([villa-schoeningen.de](https://villa-schoeningen.de/en/visit/?utm_source=openai))

For practical everyday life, this means: Those arriving by bike, train, or car will find a well-connected, culturally charged, and at the same time relaxed place here. The seasonal dependence of the opening hours fits the leisure character of the house, and the close connection between Pedales, villa, and park creates a very coherent excursion point. Café Pedales is thus not only a café in Potsdam but also a suitable stop for active guests, art lovers, and people who enjoy being outdoors.

A delightful spot! With its wide variety of delicious desserts, excellent coffee, and a green, tranquil atmosphere, Café Pedales is truly a gem. We were especially enchanted by the live music we encountered as a lovely surprise during our visit. Highly recommended!

This was so nice cafe! I’m from Japan. Having bad experience in hotel, I was afraid of asking someone in Germany. However, all the staff here kindly responded me. I was so relieved. And of course, the cake and coffee is so good too. Also, the tables and chairs kept clean by the staff. :) I strongly recommend to go this cafe!!

Amazing super green garden! (one of the most beautiful) People polite and quiet, appreciating everyone's space. Coffee is good but cakes could be better, they look nice but taste is not so rich. Somehow feels that they are backed not enough and dough is always thick.. Was expecting more fluffy and spongy. But garden!!! Garden, mmm!

If they cut the 4 Euro cake any smaller you would need a microscope to find it. Greedflation…

One of the most recommendable sites in this area!! A really well kept parc/garden meets a truly amazing Café-Team with all amenities of home made cakes, high quality coffee-all fresh/regional and eco-friendly. The most impressive asset however is the joy-and playful invitation of art and music into the venue! The well selected musicians and jazz bands are really fun to listen to! In summer outside in the parc-in winter inside in the Villa! The genius tenant even plays himself every Sunday -representing a rare species of a truly purpose driven Cafe owner!
