Biosphere Potsdam | Tickets & Opening Hours

The Biosphere Potsdam is much more than a classic attraction in Potsdam North. It combines a tropical hall, a learning place, a restaurant, a café, an event location, and a family outing all in one place. Visitors can expect a green world of over 20,000 plants across 5,000 square meters, along with around 100 to 140 exotic animal species depending on the context, the butterfly house, the aquasphere, as well as gastronomic offerings and event spaces. The facility was opened in 2002 after its time as a flower hall for the Federal Garden Show in 2001. Today, the Biosphere is a destination for anyone looking for tickets, opening hours, breakfast, brunch, parking, or special experiences in a tropical environment. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/hilfsnavigation-unten/ueber-uns/))

The Biosphere Potsdam is particularly strong in search queries with clear visitor interest: Those looking to buy tickets, needing information on opening hours, or searching for a Sunday brunch will find concrete, up-to-date information on the official website. This is exactly why a clean SEO structure with clear thematic blocks that reflect the most common search intents is worthwhile. These include admission prices, directions, parking, senior days, after-work lounges, vouchers, and the question of how warm it actually is in the tropical hall. The location appeals to families, couples, groups, school classes, and event guests alike. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/tickets/))

Tickets, Admission Prices, and Vouchers

When searching for biosphere potsdam tickets and biosphere potsdam admission prices, the official ticket page is the most important source. Tickets can be purchased on-site or online, with a system fee of 6 percent on the net final price for online bookings. The website explicitly states that the final price automatically adjusts to the number of tickets. For day tickets, the Biosphere lists the adult rate of 20.00 euros on-site and 19.01 euros online, as well as family tickets, children's prices, discounts, and free admission for children under three years. Annual passes and group rates are also available, making the location attractive not only for one-time visits but also for regular family outings and educational visits. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/tickets/))

For the search intent biosphäre potsdam voucher, it is important that the Biosphere offers vouchers, which are available not only internally but also through the Potsdam tourist information centers. On the ticket page, vouchers are described as gifts for a short vacation in the tropics of Potsdam. This fits very well with the positioning of the Biosphere as a place of experience with lasting memories rather than just a mere exhibition. So, anyone looking for a gift for families, nature enthusiasts, or day-trippers will find a sensible and practical option here. At the same time, the pricing structure shows that the Biosphere appeals to a wide audience: from spontaneous day visitors to school and daycare groups to people planning an annual subscription for multiple visits. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/tickets/))

Opening Hours, Closures, and Arrival

The search query biosphäre potsdam opening hours is clearly answered on the official site. The tropical hall is open Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 to 17:30. The last admission is one hour before the house closes. The butterfly house has its own admission times. Those searching for biosphäre potsdam closure will not find a general permanent closure on the website, but special notes: On April 27, 2026, the Biosphere will close at 14:30, and the house will also be closed on December 24 and 31. Therefore, the most important recommendation for all visitors is to always check the current opening page before the trip. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/oeffnungszeiten/))

The arrival is intentionally kept simple. The Biosphere is located in Volkspark Potsdam and recommends a climate-friendly arrival by public transport. Tram lines 96 and 92 run from Potsdam Central Station: Line 96 stops directly at the Volkspark stop in front of the Biosphere, while Line 92 goes to Campus Fachhochschule, leaving only about 300 meters to walk from there. Those arriving by bike will find free parking spaces directly at the main entrance. This is particularly convenient for families, school classes, and day-trippers from Berlin, as the arrival is possible without complicated transfers while the location is still in the middle of greenery. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/ihr-besuch/anreise/))

Parking at the Biosphere Potsdam

The keyword biosphäre potsdam parking leads directly to very concrete facts. In addition to the tropical hall, there are 160 parking spaces for cars, including disabled parking spaces, as well as bus parking. The parking lot is managed by Fair Parken. The rates are transparent: The first two hours cost a total of 3.00 euros, each additional hour 1.50 euros, and the daily rate is 8.00 euros. Visitors to the Biosphere also receive a discount of 1 euro on parking fees at the cash register. Entry is recorded by camera, payment is made at the machine or via mobile phone before exiting, and online payment is possible up to 48 hours after exiting. For people with a severe disability ID, parking is free if the ID is presented. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/ihr-besuch/anreise/))

In addition to the parking spaces, a few practical tips are important, which are mentioned in the FAQ of the Biosphere. There are lockers in the entrance area that can be used for a deposit of 1 euro. Dogs are not allowed due to the free-roaming animals in the tropical garden. Furthermore, the house is completely accessible according to the FAQ, with wide paths and elevators; wheelchairs are available for rent. For people specifically looking for practical visit tips, this is a clear advantage: One can store luggage, move through the facility with minimal barriers, and does not have to worry about dog care or complicated paths. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/faq/))

Breakfast, Brunch, and Restaurant Urwaldblick

The Biosphere Potsdam is also interesting as a culinary destination, as the keywords biosphäre potsdam breakfast, biosphäre potsdam brunch, biosphäre potsdam restaurant, and biosphäre potsdam menu clearly show. The Restaurant Urwaldblick focuses on fresh, regional products, seasonal adjustments, and tropical influences according to the website. Guests can look over the tropical landscape from the terrace or sit inside in the air-conditioned area. Important for planning: A restaurant visit is also possible without an entry ticket. The offer is complemented by the Café Tropencamp at the Urwaldsee, which serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, and snacks, and is ideal for a break during the tour. This way, the Biosphere combines experience and gastronomy in a way that remains attractive even for short visits. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/ihr-besuch/gastronomie/))

For breakfast and brunch guests, there is a tiered system: Breakfast under palm trees runs from Monday to Friday, the breakfast buffet is available on weekends and holidays, and the tropical brunch takes place on selected Sundays. A prior reservation is required for all gastronomic offerings. The breakfast buffet can only be booked until the day before at 14:00 and includes the day admission to the Biosphere Potsdam. The prices are also concrete: Adults from 14 years pay 35.00 euros, children from 6 to 13 years 25.00 euros, plus a drink flat rate of 5.00 euros per person. This makes the Biosphere a place where breakfast and outing are consciously combined. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/gastronomie/fruehstuecksbuffet/))

Those specifically looking for a menu will mainly find current gastronomic offerings and fixed formats on the website rather than a classic, permanently static menu. This is not a disadvantage but rather an indication that the culinary concept works seasonally and occasion-based. This is particularly evident in the Restaurant Urwaldblick with its regional and seasonal products, as well as in the changing breakfast and brunch offerings. The FAQ also adds that eating in the exhibitions is generally prohibited for hygienic reasons and because of the animals, while non-alcoholic drinks brought along are allowed. This strengthens the impression of a well-organized, family-friendly gastronomy with a tropical ambiance and appropriate rules for a relaxed visit. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/ihr-besuch/gastronomie/))

Tropical Hall, Temperature, and Experience World

The actual strength of the Biosphere Potsdam lies in the tropical hall itself. Guests experience summer vibes year-round on 5,000 square meters of rainforest, accompanied by the sound of a waterfall, exotic bird songs, tall treetops, and winding paths. In the company profile, the Biosphere mentions more than 20,000 exotic plants and around 140 animal species, while the visitor page speaks of around 100 exotic animal species. Both figures show the same core: The tropical world is densely planted, species-rich, and strongly focused on nature experiences. Additionally, there are jungle trees up to 14 meters high, the Urwaldsee, and the aquasphere as an underwater world within the tour. This creates not a single exhibition object but an entire experience landscape under one roof. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/hilfsnavigation-unten/ueber-uns/))

For the search query biosphäre potsdam temperature, the official pages do not provide a specific degree but describe summer-like temperatures and year-round summer vibes multiple times. This is exactly what makes the Biosphere such a special excursion destination: Even on cold or rainy days, a visit feels like a short change of scenery to the tropics. There is also a clear educational claim. The Biosphere sees itself as a learning place for sustainable living, environmental awareness, and species protection. The tour through the hall is not only about plants and animals but also about how people can make small and large contributions to a more sustainable lifestyle in everyday life. This is particularly valuable for families, school classes, and all interested parties looking for an outing with a learning effect. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/))

Events, Senior Day, and After Work

Under the search terms biosphäre potsdam senior day and biosphäre potsdam after work, it quickly becomes clear that the Biosphere also functions as an event location. The Senior Day takes place every Monday. Guests aged 60 and over receive a hot drink and a piece of cake for 4.80 euros all day; additionally, a discounted day ticket can be booked. This is a clear signal to visitors looking for a quieter start to the week with coffee and cake in a tropical environment. The combination of Senior Day and summer atmosphere shows how targeted the Biosphere addresses different target groups. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/kalender/seniorentag/))

The After Work Lounge reloaded, on the other hand, focuses on an evening at the Café Tropencamp by the Urwaldsee. There are DJs, drinks, snacks, and tropical vibes; in the official announcement, tickets were available online for 15 euros plus fees and at the box office for 20 euros, with entry from 18 years. Additionally, the Biosphere is strongly established as a wedding and event location. The orangery can accommodate up to 250 guests, and since March 2019, the facility has been an officially recognized external location of the Potsdam registry office, with the event team supporting civil or free weddings, receptions, and celebrations. So, anyone looking for a location for special occasions will find not only nature here but also professional event spaces. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/veranstaltungen/after-work-lounge/?utm_source=openai))

The positive visitor reviews fit this picture very well. The reviews particularly praise the animals, the tropical atmosphere, the breakfast, the café, and the child-friendly learning environment; at the same time, the Biosphere Potsdam achieves 4.5 stars from 7,933 ratings according to the provided Google data. This mix of experience, knowledge, and culinary offerings makes the place in Potsdam so successful. Anyone planning a visit should check tickets, opening hours, and culinary offerings in advance, as early reservations are worthwhile, especially for brunch, Senior Day, or special events. This turns a simple outing into a well-prepared tropical day with real added value. ([biosphaere-potsdam.de](https://www.biosphaere-potsdam.de/dein-besuch/tickets/))

This morning’s travels took us to the truly stunning natural world of the Potsdam Biosphere. Just a short train and tram ride from Berlin, and absolutely worth the visit. So glad we went! Birds, butterflies, fish, snakes, lizards, and all sorts of bugs and insects to take in while walking around this tropical dome. For €1 you can leave your bags, jackets etc in lockers. The cafe was even lovely and worth the visit.

Quiet a nice place eto spend a day here. You and your kids can learn a lot about nature, the environment and how to love in it sustainably. We also have been there for breakfast which you can get in Sundays. It was nothing fancy with a meat and a cheese buffet, buns and bread, little crossaints, some jam and a musli bar. The location is great because you can actually sit right in the garden which is very cool.

Had very good experience. The Biosphäre is very well maintained and its so full of tropical greens. Our kids enjoyed so much exploring and finding the little tropical animals. We loved the colorful Chameleons, Iguana, tortoise, tiny pocket monkeys, mini aquarium and the butterflies. Its so nice for the young kids and families.

This hidden gem is such a cool place to visit! Just about an hour from Berlin, and I spend 3 hours there exploring the tropical world. It’s like stepping into a mini jungle. The whole place is super interesting about biodiversity. It's a fun escape from the city in the weekend. Highly recommend!
