KARAWANSEREI: Women's Voices, Encounters, and Theater in Potsdam
On November 28, 2026, the Old Neuendorfer Church in Potsdam will open its stage for the theater project KARAWANSEREI. The intercultural women's theater combines acting with social exchange and brings together women from various cultural, national, and religious backgrounds.
Theater as a Safe Space for Encounters
KARAWANSEREI has been established since 2014 and sees itself as a sociocultural meeting platform for migrant and German women. From shared rehearsals, conversations, and experiences, theater is created that makes personal perspectives visible and opens dialogue across cultural boundaries.
A Production from Many Voices
The focus is on the women themselves: their stories, their experiences, and their different perspectives on living together. The dramaturgy of the project emerges from this communal process. Theater is not only performed here but is lived as a way of getting to know each other, building trust, and participating culturally.
Stage Art with Social Impact
KARAWANSEREI predominantly works in German and simultaneously creates opportunities to practically enhance language skills. The project idea was awarded the Integration Prize of the State Capital Potsdam in 2022. In 2025, the KARAWANSEREI network received the State Integration Prize Brandenburg.
A Special Theater Afternoon in the Old Neuendorfer Church
The historic atmosphere of the Old Neuendorfer Church sets the stage for a concentrated artistic experience. On November 28, the event begins at 4:00 PM and is scheduled until 5:00 PM. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
Conclusion: Theater that Brings People Together
The theater project KARAWANSEREI promises an afternoon where stage art, personal stories, and social exchange come together directly. Those who wish to experience theater as a lively form of encounter will find an open space for new perspectives and shared experiences in the Old Neuendorfer Church.
