An intense theater evening about masks, power, and human greatness
With ABOUT LIFE, the BühnenBande brings a play to the stage at T-Werk Potsdam that combines the tension of a psychological exceptional state with a look at the people behind their roles. The production has been in development since September 2025 under the direction of Janina Sasse and was collaboratively developed by the group in staging, script, as well as set and costume design.
Between Normality and Abyss
At the center is a selected group that finds themselves in an isolated room and believes they are participating in a psychological experiment. The apparent setting quickly turns into a highly concentrated stage experience about blackmail, fear, and the slow crumbling of social facades. When a person marked by life encounters a carefree influencer and a racist professional gambler confronts the Polish unlucky fellow, it creates exactly that friction from which good theater draws its strength.
Ensemble work with a sharp eye
The BühnenBande works not only on the text but also visibly on the attitude of the evening. This collective development gives the production a special authenticity: the performance feels close, the characters remain tangible in their contradictions. This is precisely the strength of this performance, which relies on dramatic intensification rather than mere assertions.
T-Werk as a fitting resonance space
The T-Werk is known as a place for theater, musical theater, puppetry, and mask play, as well as for cross-genre formats. In Schiffbauergasse, one of Potsdam's most important cultural sites, a theatrical atmosphere unfolds that draws the audience directly into the action. Parking is available at the southern entrance, and it is also well connected by tram and train.
