North of Now: When seven bodies touch the present

The Australian circus company Circa brings its new production North of Now to fabrik Potsdam on October 9, 2026. Seven acrobats, an empty stage, and seventy minutes full of excitement, closeness, and overwhelming body art transform contemporary circus into an intense stage experience.

Acrobatics as a language of trust

Directed by Yaron Lifschitz, the production reduces contemporary circus to its elemental forces: weight, balance, fall, and hold. One body rests completely in the hands of another, while every movement hovers between control and uncertainty. The dramaturgy arises from the risk of the moment and the question of whether the next catch will succeed.

An empty stage, infinite possibilities

The stage design remains deliberately sparse. Light, body, and space are enough to create a world between closeness and distance. The acrobatics condense into a poetic choreography, where collisions, lifts, and the act of letting go tell a story of deep human vulnerability.

Between Paul Celan and the present

Inspired by Paul Celan's image of the rivers north of the future, North of Now revolves around the difficult art of arriving in the present moment. Love and loss, tenderness and conflict, pain and joy meet in a production that relies on no spoken explanation and unfolds its impact directly through body, light, sound, and audience reaction.

Circa: Globally acclaimed stage art

Circa is one of the leading ensembles in contemporary circus. Based in Brisbane, the company has toured internationally since 2004, performing in over 45 countries across six continents. The New York Times described their work as breathtaking, fearless, and deeply vulnerable at the same time.

The stage experience at fabrik Potsdam

fabrik Potsdam, with its concentrated theater atmosphere, provides the perfect resonance space for this physical and visual production. For about sixty to seventy minutes, a highly concentrated play of acrobatics, light mood, and sound emerges, dissolving the boundaries between dance, performance, and new circus.

Conclusion: North of Now invites you to a stage experience that connects thrill and quiet beauty. Those who want to experience contemporary circus art, precise physical acting, and poetic movement live will find an evening full of amazement, risk, and human connection at fabrik Potsdam.
