Mushroom Themed Evening in Potsdam: Identifying Fascinating Finds Together

When late autumn brings forth its last treasures from the forest floor, the Mushroom Themed Evening at the House of Nature invites you to an engaging event experience. On November 17, 2026, mushroom enthusiasts, nature friends, and curious beginners meet to examine and classify finds and exchange ideas with experts.

Identification with Experienced Mycologists

The focus is on the joint re-identification of mushroom finds from the late autumn excursion to the Lange Dammwiesen. The event will be led by Martin Schmidt from the Association of Märkischer Mycologists. He will be supported by members of the Mycology Working Group Berlin-Brandenburg. The evening combines professional classification with personal exchange and a pleasantly focused event atmosphere.

Fresh and Dried Finds Welcome

Those who bring their own mushroom finds can examine them more closely with the experts. Fresh material is particularly suitable, and in case of doubt, dried specimens are also welcome. With tea, coffee, and cookies, a calm environment is created for questions, discussions, and new insights into biodiversity, identification, and the fascinating world of mycology.

For Beginners and Experts

The themed evening is aimed at participants of the previous late autumn excursion as well as anyone who wants to learn more about mushrooms regardless. Prior knowledge is helpful but not a requirement. The mix of expert guidance, illustrative finds, and an open audience atmosphere makes the event interesting for various target groups.

Expert Knowledge in a Special Atmosphere

The event management focuses on personal, dialogue-oriented event planning: instead of a distant lecture, direct exchange is at the forefront. Visitors experience how mushrooms are classified based on visible characteristics and why careful identification is important. This creates an educational evening with a nature connection, practical impressions, and plenty of space for personal questions.

Admission is free. Those interested in mushrooms, nature conservation, and local biodiversity can experience an informative evening at the House of Nature with professional depth and a relaxed atmosphere. Mark the date now and discover the fascinating world of mushrooms live.
