KaBuFF: A Fantastical Family Experience Full of Sound, Movement, and Children's Laughter
When cardboard becomes houses, paper tells stories, and sounds turn into music, a special theater afternoon for young viewers begins in Potsdam. KaBuFF – A Magical Experience for Young Audiences combines performance, dance, play, and collaborative building into an age-appropriate learning experience for preschool children and their adults.
A Stage Becomes a Home
The focus is on the question of what makes a home. High-rise buildings, kitchens and living rooms, stairs, balconies, moving boxes, and wallpapers create a transformable landscape where various characters appear as neighbors. Children experience a sensory theater world that sparks curiosity and allows space for their own ideas.
Participate, Discover, and Create
KaBuFF is a multisensory, modular theater piece. The stage design consists of recycled cardboard, paper, fabrics, and natural materials. These elements can be touched, walked on, shaped, and made to sound. After the approximately 35-minute story, there is about a 30-minute building phase where children can get creative and transform their ideas into collaborative play.
Learning Fun with Music and Movement
Language and music arise in dialogue with the children. Self-built noise boxes, a loop station, and small scenic inserts make rhythm and sound directly experienceable. The combination of theater, dance, and active creation strengthens imagination, expressiveness, perception, and community feeling – child-friendly, playful, and without prior knowledge.
Educatively Valuable and Child-focused
The production was developed through a long-term collaboration with three kindergartens. Stories revolving around the theme of home and the UN Children's Rights were central. The involved artists value sustainability, accessibility, and a safe atmosphere where every child can contribute their own experiences.
A Family Afternoon of Wonder
KaBuFF is aimed at children aged four and up and their adults. The closeness to the material, the changing sounds, and the open play situation create an intense family experience. Children can observe, try out, and co-design, while families enjoy time together filled with joy, wonder, and learning fun.
Conclusion: KaBuFF invites families on an unusual journey through spaces, sounds, and imagination. Those wanting to experience child-friendly theater with movement, participation, and sustainable materials will find a special afternoon full of ideas. Mark the date now and discover the stage event live.
