When Color Begins to Shine: Cool Colors, Warm Light in Potsdam

On November 20, 2026, the Potsdam Art Association will open the exhibition Cool Colors, Warm Light. The group exhibition is dedicated to the dynamic interplay of color, light, and atmosphere, inviting an open, personal examination of the works.

Between Cool Color Surface and Warm Glow

A ray of light changes a landscape, a tone determines the mood of a picture. In the presented works, artists from the Potsdam Art Association develop individual interpretations of this interplay. It is not just the hue that determines perception: contrasts, the environment, and a bright moment also shape the aesthetic experience.

Painting as an Experience of Perception

The exhibition illustrates how closely color and light are connected in contemporary painting. A cool sky can bring warm tones to life, while a warm light gives depth to a dark surface. The works create different atmospheres: some radiate calm, others create tension and direct the gaze between proximity and distance.

Cultural Education Through Close Observation

Cool Colors, Warm Light is an invitation to explore one's own perceptions. The exhibition makes fundamental questions of art observation tangible: What do we perceive as warm or cool? How does a contrast change the spatial effect? And in what ways do materiality, brightness, and color temperature influence our mood?

At the opening on November 20, there will be an opportunity to talk with the artists from the Potsdam Art Association. Thus, the curated group exhibition connects sensual observation with direct exchange and contemporary art education.

A Free Art Experience at the Potsdam Art Association

The exhibition atmosphere thrives on the immediate encounter with the works. Those who want to experience color not just as a decorative element, but as a carrier of mood, space, and meaning will find diverse perspectives on a familiar yet surprising topic.
