When sound becomes a universe: The Creation – Let There Be Loop at the Planetarium Potsdam
On January 23, 2027, the Urania Planetarium Potsdam will transform into a cosmic resonance space. In the concert The Creation – Let There Be Loop, Wenzel Benn takes the audience through eight musical acts from the beginning of the universe to the completion of human consciousness.
Jazz, electronic sounds, and hypnotic repetitions
At the center are original compositions by Wenzel Benn. Saxophone, flute, and electronic sounds merge into a multi-layered sound body that evolves like an orchestra from individual impulses. Precise synchronization, repetitive structures, and the open dramaturgy of the loops create an intense live atmosphere between jazz, minimal music, and contemporary sound art.
A concert under massive space projections
The musical journey receives a visual dimension through the projections of the planetarium dome. Light, constellations, and cosmic movements meet the warm sound of the saxophone and the airy colors of the flute. This creates an immersive concert experience that is not only heard but experienced throughout the space.
Wenzel Benn as sound architect
Wenzel Benn is a jazz saxophonist, sound architect, musician, and cultural organizer. His music combines traditional jazz with influences from hip-hop and minimal music. He was trained, among others, by Ralf Benschu, known from Keimzeit, at the University of Potsdam. In addition to his artistic work, Benn shares his knowledge as a teacher and organizes jazz events such as the Green Stage at the Kunsthaus Sans Titre in Potsdam.
An evening between creation myth and present
The eight acts do not follow a classical concert dramaturgy but unfold their own musical cosmos. Small motifs grow into sound fields, and rhythmic movements emerge from individual breaths. The combination of acoustic instruments, electronic processing, and planetarium projections creates a stage performance with unusual spatial depth.
Conclusion: Potsdam experiences music with a view of the universe
Visitors can expect an extraordinary concert evening with jazz, electronic music, hypnotic loops, and spectacular space images. Those who wish to experience music not just on a stage but as a spatial journey should not miss this special concert experience at the Urania Planetarium Potsdam. Reservation is required.
